Mohawk girls get hot from charity stripe in rout
Mohawk (54) Vs. Riverside (30)
The Mohawk High girls traditionally are a good free-throw shooting basketball team.

Thursday night, the Lady Warriors took it to a whole new level.

Mohawk made good on 23 of 24 free throws in a 54-30 WPIAL Section 1-3A homecourt victory over Riverside. Carlee Stelter made 10 of 10 attempts to lead the way.

The missed free throw actually came in the’s game’s final minutes, according to Lady Warriors coach Mike O’Lare.

“We’re a good free-throw shooting team, but we’re not that good,” O’Lare said. “Of course every coach wishes his team were to make every single free throw, but you know that’s not realistic. We were definitely ‘on’ tonight, though.”

O’Lare said the Lady Warriors (3-1, 7-2) have been making a solid 70 percent of their free throws. Tonight’s percentage: 95.8.

Karly McCutcheon and Megan Meyer scored 12 points apiece to lead the victors. Stelter added 10.

Sydney Wolf scored 12 for Riverside (2-1, 8-2).
