Lancers roll, ready for Lincoln Park
Neshannock (69) Vs. Jamestown (18)
The Neshannock High boys basketball team did not look past Jamestown last night.
The Lancers, who play a big WPIAL Section 1-A game against Lincoln Park on Friday, defeated Jamestown, 69-18, in nonsection play.
“The guys played pretty well,” Neshannock coach John Corey said. “Overall, we had hoped to use this game to get ready for Friday. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to work as much stuff into the gameplan that we wanted to do.”
Jamestown (2-7) had no answer for John Sansone, who recorded a triple-double for the Lancers. The sophomore point guard tallied 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists.
“He had a great game,” Corey said. “This is the third game in a row he’s had 10 assists. John is starting to see the floor very well — that’s a great tribute to him.”
Bobby Nittinger netted 16 points for the Lancers (9-3), followed by Joey Fontana and Brandon Marinelli, who had 14 and 12 points, respectively.
Neshannock and Lincoln Park tied for the section crown last year. Both teams split their two regular season meetings with the home team winning each game.
Friday’s matchup is on the Lancers’ home floor.
“Lincoln Park is a very, very good basketball team,” Corey said. “It’s one of those games that make for a great atmosphere. We have to play very well.”
