Lady Lancers lose second straight
Slippery Rock (46) Vs. Neshannock (42)
Jan 25, 2011
Slippery Rock outscored Neshannock, 31-20, in the second half and beat the Lady Lancers in a nonsection matchup.
Neshannock committed 18 turnovers and struggled offensively in the second half, when the Lady Lancers (12-4) watched a 22-15 lead evaporate in a mere minutes.
“We came out in the third and missed three easy shots and turned it over on the next three possessions,” Neshannock coach Luann Grybowski said. “I blinked, and instead of us being up 22-15, it was like 23-20 or something. They cut the deficit quickly and we just never got in sync in the second half.”
Neshannock has lost two straight for the first time this year, shooting 13 of 48 against the Lady Rockets (8-6). Ericka Warvell led the Lady Lancers with 17 points, while Chelsea Kauffman added 14 markers and eight rebounds. Morgan Siebka paced Slippery Rock with 17.
“Maybe it’s time for me to go back to the drawing board,” Grybowski said, “because we’re losing some close games, and I’m not real happy about it.”
