Wilmington falls to Reynolds
Wilmington (39) Vs. Reynolds (42)
Jan 19, 2011
A few calls late didn’t go in Wilmington’s favor in the final few minutes of a District 10, Region 2-AA loss to Reynolds.
The Greyhounds were down by one with about 20 seconds to go when what looked to be a good steal was called a foul, according to Wilmington coach Mike Jeckavitch. The Raiders made both free throws, and Wilmington eventually called a timeout with seven seconds left to set up a final play. Curtis Bretz misfired on a 3, and despite some contact, no foul was called.
“We had a lot of foul trouble in the first half,” Jeckavitch said. “Then we got their big kid, (Brandon) Weaver, in foul trouble and we made a run in the third quarter. Bretz made two 3s, and it was just back and forth from there.”
Bretz led Wilmington (1-1, 5-7) with 15 points, while Darryl Pace recorded a double-double with 10 points and 16 rebounds. Weaver netted 14 points for Reynolds (1-1, 6-6).
