Lincoln Park routs Union
Lincoln Park (69) Vs. Union (33)
Jan 19, 2011
Lincoln Park outscored Union 32-7 in the second quarter to pull away and claim a Section 1-A victory.
The Leopards, (3-0, 10-2) ranked No. 1 in the WPIAL in Class A by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, led just 17-8 after the first period.
“That’s a good basketball team we played tonight,” Scotties coach Dave Smialowski said. “We missed some easy shots in the first quarter and it really could have been closer going to the second quarter.
“They turned the pressure up in the second quarter and we made some costly turnovers. You can’t do that against quality teams. I’m very proud of how our kids played.”
Markel Peace led Union (0-3, 0-13) with nine points.
Lincoln Park’s Devontae Watson recorded a game-high 24 markers, 14 of which came in the first half. Alex Kross, who was next with 16 points for the winners, buried all four of his 3-pointers in the pivotal second stanza.
