Beaver girls top Ellwood
Beaver (64) Vs. Ellwood City (38)
Jan 11, 2011
A steady offensive attack allowed Beaver to cruise in a Section 2-AAA contest with Ellwood City Lincoln.
The Lady Bobcats’ Kate O’Neil led the charge with a game-high 21 points, including six 3-pointers, all of which came in the first half. Beaver (2-2, 6-6) jumped out to a 35-21 halftime advantage, and its diverse offense never let up, outscoring Ellwood City by 12 in the final two quarters.
“I took a chance by clogging up the inside in the first half, hoping they would get one shot and that’s it,” Lady Wolverines coach Bill Gottuso said. “Well, they shot 7 of 14 from beyond the arc. From what we saw, they weren’t real good from behind the 3-point line, so I was hoping they would be one and done — and they were one and in.”
Asia Borders scored 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Lady Wolverines, while Michelle Nocera provided 11 points. Allison Marshall had six assists and Nicole Nocera snatched four steals.
