The inability to rebound cost Shenango in a Section 2-AA loss to Summit Academy.
The Knights outrebounded the Wildcats, 46-21, to pull away for the road win.
“Their advantage on the glass really hurt us,” Shenango coach Bob McQuiston said. “We knew coming in, that’s what we needed to do well was to control the boards.”
Shenango (1-2, 5-4) was 18 of 53 from the field, including 3 of 20 from behind the arc.
“I thought we had open looks, but at times we were a little hesitant to shoot the ball,” McQuiston said. “We just couldn’t put the ball in the hoop.”
Brett Chieze and Jeff Williams netted 10 points each for the Wildcats.
Arley Townsend led all scorers with 19 points for Summit Academy (2-1, 4-4).
