Tekac paces Wilmington
Wilmington (60) Vs. Commodore Perry (49)
Jan 05, 2011
Josh Tekac picked a good time to score a career high.
The Wilmington junior recorded 12 of his 14 points in the second half to lead Wilmington to a nonregion victory.
The Greyhounds (4-3) trailed by one at the half, but outscored the Panthers, 38-26, in the third and fourth quarters. The second-half surge was created by the bench.
“Our bench really stepped up with some of the starters not playing their best,” Wilmington coach Mike Jeckavitch said. “They weren’t guarding (Tekac) on the outside. Josh put a lot of time in the offseason on his shooting, and he hit a couple 3s. It’s nice to have a 6-foot-4 kid who can go inside and outside. I have a lot of confidence in him, and finally, I think he now has the confidence in himself.”
Daryl Pace provided 13 points and 10 rebounds for Wilmington.
