Mohawk (42) Vs. New Brighton (40)
Dec 29, 2010
Mohawk made the most out of a limited amount of time to knock off New Brighton in the first round of the Mohawk Warrior Christmas Classic.
Tim Glass made a tip-in at the buzzer to lift the Warriors. Mohawk inbounded with three-tenths of a second left near midcourt. Glass got free and tipped the ball in for the winning margin.
“We were able to get Tim on a back screen and roll. He couldn’t catch and shoot because there wasn’t enough time,” Mohawk coach Kevin Wrona said. “I’m very happy with the execution on that play.
“We didn’t have many options. I called it out, the kids got to their spots and it was a real nice pass to Tim and he tipped it in.”
Glass paced Mohawk (2-5) with 18 points, 11 of which came in the second quarter. He added seven more in the final frame.
“This was a good performance from Tim,” Wrona said. “We’re working hard as a team and the guys are trying to put themselves into position for a great opportunity.”
Jimmy Pratte netted 10 points for the Lions (2-6).
Mohawk will square off against Latrobe (2-4) at 5:30 p.m. today in the championship game. The Wildcats knocked off Beaver, 69-55, to reach the title tilt.
