Union falls to Summit Academy
Summit Academy (68) Vs. Union (57)
Dec 23, 2010
Union fell victim to Summit Academy’s zone defense in the second quarter of their nonsection showdown.
The Scotties (0-6) started strong, taking a 19-14 first-quarter lead. Yet, the Knights clamped down on defense in the second stanza and held Union to six points to snare a 30-25 halftime margin.
“We made some buckets in the first quarter, and then the game started to settle down a little bit, they went into their zone and got a little more aggressive,” Union coach Dave Smialowski said. “But I was pleased with our effort. We had a lull in the second quarter, but it was a tight game for the most part. The lead never got above 10. We’re starting to gel a little bit, so things are coming along.”
The Scotties’ Andre Jones tied for a team-high 15 points and also grabbed eight rebounds. Markel Peace also scored 15, and Tre Major added 12 points and eight rebounds.
