Feb 16, 2010
The Lady Greyhounds received balanced scoring and breezed past Rocky Grove to earn a District 10, nonregion win.
Stephanie Kish netted a game-high 11 points for Wilmington (13-7), followed by Ashley Gardner and Haley Marett with 10 apiece.
Lady ’Hounds coach Brian Turk said all three guards played a key role in Wilmington taking a 20-3 lead after the first quarter.
“That set the tempo right from the start,” he said.
Julie Burns grabbed 10 rebounds to help the Lady ’Hounds win for the sixth time in their last seven contests.
Wilmington, which sits in third place in the Region 2-AA standings with a 6-4 record, has two critical games left this season against fourth-place Mercer (5-5, 10-10) on Thursday and second-place Sharpsville (9-2, 16-5) on Saturday.
District 10 takes the top two teams from each region to the postseason and some regions will qualify a third squad.
“Hopefully, we can get out of this week with three straight wins and lock up a playoff spot,” he said.
