Laurel girls end on high note
Laurel (58) Vs. Shenango (49)
Feb 12, 2010
Becca Kerr tallied a season-high 29 points to lead the Lady Spartans to a Section 2-AA win over Shenango.

Kerr also collected 10 rebounds and seven steals to help Laurel finish its season at 5-7 in the section and 9-11 overall. Kerr also was 13 of 15 from the foul line.

“She was taking it to the hoop,” Lady Spartans coach Jenn McGarrah said, “but she was also being open on the offense. The girls made some really nice passes to her inside.”

Laurel outlasted the Lady Wildcats (1-11, 8-13) by connecting on 11 of 14 from the foul line in the fourth quarter.

Angelene Rapone netted 21 points for Shenango, which finished its season on a nine-game losing streak.

“We didn’t play our best but we played better in our last two games, which is better,” Lady Wildcats coach Chris Vecenie said. “We’re still trying to find the pieces.”
