Reynolds edges Wilmington
Reynolds (44) Vs. Wilmington (43)
Feb 10, 2010
Tony Patterson hit a jumper from the foul line with 13 seconds left to lift Reynolds to a District 10, Region 2-AA win over Wilmington.
Matt Moesta’s 3-pointer with 4 seconds left was off the mark and the rebound was bobbled around long enough for the clock to expire, preserving the Raiders’ victory.
“It’s a tough loss,” said Greyhounds coach Will Harris. “I felt realistically we could lose one out of the last four games and still have a shot at the playoffs; with this loss, our backs are to the wall.
“We have to win out now. I told the guys, you can come out fighting and get these last three victories and extend the season, or you can lay down and die. We’ll find out what kind of team they are.”
Jake DeMedal drove into the lane with 30 seconds to go and was fouled. He drained both foul shots to put Wilmington up, 43-42.
Darryl Pace led the Greyhounds (4-3, 8-11) with 18 points and Brandon Burk was next with 10. DeMedal, who ranks fourth in the county in scoring at 19.1 points a game, was held to six markers.
“They did a nice job defensively on Jake,” Harris said. “Everybody has an off night now and again and tonight was Jake’s.”
Brandon Weaver tossed in 16 points for the Raiders (2-4, 6-12) and Patterson was next with 15.
