Shenango comes up short against Riverside
Shenango (37) Vs. Riverside (42)
Jan 30, 2010
The Shenango Wildcats woke up too late in a 42-37 Section 2-AA loss to Riverside.
Shenango (1-7, 4-14) outscored its opponent 26-21 in the third and fourth quarters, but an 11-point first half cost it the victory.
“When you don’t play two halves, it’s very hard to win a basketball game,” Wildcats coach Bob McQuiston said.
Sophomore Jeff Williams was the lone Shenango player in double figures with 13.
Mason Marion led Riverside (2-7, 7-12) with 14 points. The Wildcats were able to hold Marion, who averages nearly 20 points per game, to only three second-half points.
“Marion is probably one of the best players in the section,” McQuiston said. “If you would have told me that we were going to hold Marion to three points in the second half, I would have said we win the game.”
