West Middlesex handles Wilmington
Wilmington (34) Vs. West Middlesex (56)
Dec 13, 2007
After a 10-day layoff, the Greyhounds returned to action and lost a District 10 nonregion contest on the road.

Wilmington (1-2), which postponed a region game against Sharpsville last week because of the football team’s state playoff run, was held scoreless in the second quarter and trailed 29-15 at the half.

“With them played a halfcourt press and getting our football guys back with only two days of practice, we struggled,” Greyhounds coach Will Harris said. “Our defense wasn’t too bad. We forced them to shoot from the outside but to their credit they had seven 3-pointers in the first half.”

Matt Murray scored five 3-pointers and led all scorers with 21 points for the Big Reds. Troy Mild had the other two 3-pointers and followed with 19 markers.

Ryan Foht paced Wilmington with 10 points. Ian Kelly followed with seven points.

“We had to go out and guard against their outside shot in the second half and we got worn out chasing them,” Harris said. “We’re still not in basketball shape yet.”
