Wilmington tops Mercer in OT

Jake DeMedal scored six of Wilmington’s 10 points in overtime to beat Mercer in a District 10, Region 2-AA contest.

The Greyhounds (2-1, 6-8) were up three points with 15 seconds remaining in regulation before Mercer tied the game with a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

“I like the way the kids faced adversity,” Wilmington coach Will Harris said. “I like the way our kids stepped up in overtime.”

DeMedal finished with a game-high 22 points, including a trio of 3-pointers. Matt Moesta scored 12 points and Ryan Baldwin added 11 markers and 10 rebounds.

“Any league win is good,” Harris said. “We’re right where we need to be.”

Mercer fell to 0-3 in the region and 3-10 overall.
