Big quarter boosts Wilmington girls

Wilmington outscored Commodore Perry 15-5 in the third quarter to seize control and post the nonregion win.

The Lady Greyhounds struggled at the foul line, converting just 11 of their 28 attempts.

“We really stepped up our defense in the third quarter,” Wilmington coach Brian Turk said. “We’re getting the opportunities at the line and we have to start knocking them down.”

Stephanie Kish netted 20 points for the Lady Greyhounds (8-6) and Julie Burns contributed 14 markers and a game-best 21 rebounds.

Jessica McClain tossed in 17 markers for Commodore Perry.
