Lady Warriors outlast Laurel
Mohawk (49) Vs. Laurel (39)
Jan 08, 2010
Mohawk’s Brooke Shasteen is known as the team’s human Swiss Army knife.

That’s because Shasteen does a little bit of everything for the Lady Warriors (2-1, 8-3).

The junior did just that in a win over Laurel, registering a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

“She kind of fixes it all,” Mohawk coach Mike O’Lare said. “She’s cleans up all the messes.”

Amanda Shaffer added 12 points for Mohawk, which dominated the first three quarters. The Lady Warriors entered the final frame leading by 17 points.

“We played some of our best basketball in those first three quarters,” O’Lare said. “We were pressuring the ball, making the extra pass and shots were falling. I just thought we played very well together and played very hard.”

Becca Kerr paced the Lady Spartans (2-2, 4-5) with 13 points, followed by Jackie Schlemmer with 12.
