Lady Spartans rally past New Brighton

The Lady Spartans used pressure defense in the second half to defeat New Brighton in a WPIAL Section 2-AA contest.
Laurel (2-1 section, 4-4 overall) entered halftime down two points but outscored New Brighton (1-1, 6-3) 32-19 in the second half.
“We really started going after them and forcing pressure on their guards,” Laurel coach Jenn McGarrah said.
Becca Kerr spearheaded the comeback with 12 second-half points to go along with five steals. Kerr finished with 16 markers.
Nicolette McCormick notched a game-high 18 points and Cassie Yough collected eight rebounds for the Lady Spartans.
