'Canes fall to Delaware Valley

Delaware Valley raced to a 37-20 halftime lead and rolled to the triumph over New Castle at the Farrell Christmas Tournament.

The Warriors, who hail from the Philadelphia area, outscored the Red Hurricane, 28-21, in the second half to wrap up the win.

Marquale May led New Castle (1-6) with 17 points, including five 3-pointers. Jajuan Jay added nine points and four rebounds. Marcus Carter added eight points for the ’Canes, who meet Pine-Richland at 6 p.m. today in the consolation game.

New Castle played without one of its top scorers, Corey Eggleston, who is out for the tournament after suffering a broken nose against North Allegheny on Wednesday. Eggleston’s status will be re-evaluated Monday.
