Neshannock (64) Vs. Mohawk (45)

It was a tale of two halves for the Neshannock High boys basketball team last night.
The Lancers overcame a five-point halftime deficit to defeat Mohawk, 64-45, in a nonsection matchup.
“We were obviously disgusted by our first-half performance,” Neshannock coach John Corey said. “Ten minutes after halftime, we were very proud of our performance.”
The Lancers (2-1) turned the ball over 11 times in the first two periods. Mohawk’s Jake Grim took advantage and notched 16 first-quarter points on his way to a game-high 28.
From there, Neshannock dominated. The Lancers racked up a 50-17 advantage on the boards — thanks to Eric Bruening’s 16 rebounds — and outscored Mohawk (2-1) 41-17 in the second half.
“I told the guys at halftime those first three minutes of the third we had to jump on them,” Corey said.
Brandon Marinelli scored 17 points for Neshannock, Bobby Nittinger tallied 12 and Joey Fontana added 10.
