The playoff-bound Lady Scots outscored Monaca 23-21 in the final period to hold on for a Section 1-A win.

“It was a big fourth quarter for both teams,” Union coach Damian Cassano said. “The first half was a nice defensive battle.

“They were playing desperate tonight because they still had a chance to make the playoffs, but we played the spoilers.”

Savannah Partridge led Union (6-5, 8-11) with 15 points, while Noelle Hannon had 11 points and 10 rebounds. Bridget Boyles chipped in with eight rebounds to go with nine points.

Monaca’s Alyssa Nichol (2-8, 2-13) led all scorers with 23 points.
