Jan 27, 2009
Carson Sharbaugh was on the mark for Wilmington High boys basketball team last night.
The senior guard made 6 of 8 shots from 3-point range in the first half to help the Greyhounds rout Sharpsville, 75-45, in a District 10, Region 2-AA game.
Sharbaugh finished with a game-high 18 points.
Dallas Hartman had 16 points and nine rebounds, while Jake DeMedal chipped in with four assists and four steals to go with four points.
Wilmington (4-1 region, 11-5 overall) built a 24-6 lead in the first quarter and led 46-25 at halftime.
“I’m happy with our defensive effort in the first and third quarters,” ’Hounds coach Will Harris said. “We kind of got lackadaisical in the second quarter.
“But we shot the ball well and as they say, ‘When you shoot good, you look good.’”
Eric Sike led the Blue Devils (0-5, 5-12) with 10 points.
“We still need to learn to put a whole game together defensively,” Harris said. “We have done it before, so we need to start doing it on a consistent basis.
“Still, a league win is always good.”
