Jan 15, 2009
Laurel committed 32 turnovers in dropping a Section 2-AA contest to Riverside.

The game was tied at 33 after three quarters before the Lady Panthers outscored the hosts 18-2 in the final stanza.

“We just lost our confidence and there were too many turnovers,” Lady Spartans coach Jennifer McGarrah said. “This was a great defensive game and the whole game was played pretty well; we just lost it in the fourth.”

Becca Kerr led Laurel (1-6, 4-9) with 14 points and Kasie Brown pulled down a team-best eight rebounds.

Leah Prisuta paced all scorers with 17 markers for Riverside (6-1, 10-4).

The Lady Spartans entered the game winners of four of their last five games. The Lady Panthers rolled in the first meeting, 70-21.

“We’ve been playing with a great deal of confidence since winning the Union Booster Tournament,” McGarrah said. “We knew this was going to be a hard-fought game and I’m proud of how we battled.”
