Frosh drops 44, but Union falls
Rochester (77) Vs. Union (65)
Jan 12, 2009
Freshman Savannah Partridge poured in 44 points, but it wasn’t enough as Union dropped a Section 1-A battle.
Partridge had 12 points in the second quarter and 12 more in the third frame. The 44 points is not a school record. Jo Anne Bok holds that with 47 points in a game against Riverside in the early 1980s.
“Savannah stepping up was tremendous,” Lady Scots coach Damian Cassano said. “Anytime you can get 44 from a freshman, it’s incredible.
“Teams are starting to key on her. She creates a lot on her own. She still makes freshman mistakes and that’s understandable, but 44 pretty much speaks for itself.”
Bridget Boyles chipped in with 10 points and eight rebounds for Union (3-3, 4-9), while Noelle Hannon contributed eight boards.
“The girls really played tough,” Cassano said. “They fought hard, but we just couldn’t close the gap.”
Samantha Robson had 28 points for the Lady Rams (5-1, 10-4).
