Freedom rallies past Ellwood
Freedom (56) Vs. Ellwood City (49)
Dec 11, 2008
Freedom outscored Ellwood City Lincoln 24-6 in the third quarter to erase a 26-20 deficit and claim a nonsection win.

“It was a whole different team out there in the third quarter,” Lady Wolverines coach Bill Gottuso said of his team’s performance. “You can’t lose a quarter like we did in the third quarter.

“We didn’t execute at all in that quarter; we’re shooting to play all four quarters.”

Ellwood City (1-3) trailed 44-32 after three quarters and got close as four points with 2:12 left. However, the Lady Bulldogs (4-1) made their free throws down the stretch to secure the win.

Michelle Nocera paced the Lady Wolverines with 15 points and a team-best 12 rebounds, while Beth Roitz added 11 markers. Alexandra Capalbo chipped in with 10 boards.

Jenn Cantella led all scorers with 28 points.
