Union boys beat Riverside
Union (71) Vs. Riverside (51)
Dec 08, 2008
The Scotties outscored the Panthers, 20-9, in the first quarter and ran away with a nonsection win.
“It was a nice win,” Union coach Dave Smialowski said. “The kids played hard. This helps us gear up for (section opener) Monaca on Friday.”
Jason Burkes led the Scotties (2-1) with 19 points and Anthony Thomas followed with 16. Matt Adamo chipped in with a double-double, scoring 13 to go with 13 rebounds.
Thomas also had nine rebounds and seven assists.
“He played a very nice game,” Smialowski said. “Dishing out seven assists and grabbing nine boards is a nice game when you’re also scoring 16.
“But all-around, it was a nice team effort.”
Josh Anderson led the Panthers with 15 markers.
