Wilmington stuns District 10 leader Oil City

Lauren Frederick and Meadow Whiting propelled the host Lady Greyhounds to a 45-38 District 10, Region 2-3A win over the Lady Oilers.

Frederick netted 18 of her game-high 21 points in the second half for Wilmington (10-3, 13-8). Whiting was next with 15 markers, 13 coming in the first half.

It's the seventh win in a row for the Lady Greyhounds, who are bound for the District 10, Class 3A playoffs.

"We feel we're getting better," said first-year Wilmington coach Rick Holzworth. "The momentum the girls have built is tremendous. They keep getting better and better."

Whiting pulled down 12 rebounds for the Lady Greyhounds. Katie Hahn handed out six assists to go with her six markers for the winners.

Oil City, which beat Wilmington 60-43 last month, slipped to 11-2, 14-6. The Lady Oilers are a Class 4A member.
