Neshannock (75) Vs. Sto-Rox (63)
Jan 31, 2017
The Neshannock High boys basketball team continues to keep the pressure on in the WPIAL Section 3-2A standings.
Ean Oprean led three scorers in double figures with 27 points for the Lancers in a 75-63 home victory over Sto-Rox.
Neshannock (6-5 section, 12-6 overall) pulls into a fourth-place tie with Laurel (6-5, 13-6). The Lancers won the first meeting. The top four teams plus ties that can’t be broken advance to the WPIAL playoffs.
“We’re a long way from that,” Neshannock coach John Corey said of the playoff picture. “We have to get to practice and get better on Wednesday.
“I’m happy with the win, but it was an ugly win. We have a lot of mistakes to fix from this effort.”
Oprean handed out six assists for the winners. Ty Sear chipped in with 17 points and a team-best 10 rebounds for the Lancers and Dante DeLillo added 11 markers with six boards.
“Oprean and Sear both played really well,” Corey said. “Throughout the game it was a single-digit difference. It always seemed like Sear came up with a big bucket.”
Ray Gee garnered 15 points to lead Sto-Rox (2-9, 4-14).
