The Neshannock High boys basketball team built some momentum Saturday evening.

Ean Oprean poured in a game-high 28 points and Dante DeLillo delivered 25 to lead the Lancers to a 72-66 non-section home win over West Middlesex.

Neshannock (11-6 overall) snapped a two-game losing streak. The Lancers are 5-5 in WPIAL Section 3-2A play and in fifth place, one game behind Laurel (6-4, 13-5) for the fourth and final playoff berth. Neshannock won the first meeting between the teams, 59-54.

"It's good to get the win," Lancers coach John Corey said. "This is a big week coming up for us.

"We're really fighting like heck to get into the playoffs. The next two weeks we need every win we can get."

Neshannock grabbed an 18-9 lead after one quarter and pushed it to 32-16 in the second stanza before settling for a 34-29 edge at the break.

"We started off really well to start the game, but West Middlesex did a good job of battling back," Corey said. "West Middlesex always plays hard; it's always a battle with them."

DeLillo pulled down a team-high seven rebounds, while Oprean handed out eight assists with five boards.

Ty Sear chipped in with 11 markers for Neshannock.

"Dante shot the ball really well. It's nice to see him find his stroke again," Corey said.

Casey Mild paced the Big Reds (6-11) with 18 points.
