Jan 28, 2017
The Lady Greyhounds raced to a 23-8 lead and never looked back in a 72-38 District 10, Region 2-3A road win over the Lady Blue Darlings.

It's the fourth consecutive win for Wilmington (7-3 region, 10-8 overall), which is in second place behind Oil City (9-0, 11-4). Oil City, though, is a 4A participant, while the Lady Greyhounds are a 3A squad.

"Our skill level has steadily gone up," said first-year Wilmington coach Rick Holzworth. "We spend half of our practices on skill.

"I'm pleased we're playing well and we want to keep improving."

Meadow Whiting tossed in a game-high 18 points to lead the Lady Greyhounds. Reilly Hunt and Sara Ruth recorded 15 tallies apiece, while Lauren Frederick contributed 13 markers and a team-high 10 rebounds.

Katie Hahn handed out six assists to go with her five points for the winners.

Claire Staunch led Sharpsville (4-6, 5-11) with 14 points.
