Union girls' comeback comes up short
Union (36) Vs. Portersville Christian (40)
Jan 21, 2017
The Lady Scots couldn't climb out of an early hole in dropping a 40-36 non-section home game to the Lady Eagles.
Union trailed 14-1 after one quarter and 24-10 at the break.
"We just dug too deep of a hole at the start," said first-year Lady Scots coach Brian Heaney.
Union (1-13) cut the deficit to four points in the second half before Portersville Christian pushed it back to 12. The Lady Scots never got closer than the final margin.
"We played much better in the second half and then they pulled away again," Heaney said. "We're close to being a good team, we're getting there."
Tessa Shaffer netted a team-high 11 points for Union and Madison Wynn was next with seven.
