Union (71) Vs. Rochester (68)
Jan 13, 2017
Seth Pinkerton and K'Von Huddleston came through in the clutch for the Scotties in a 71-68 Section 1-1A road win over the Rams.
Union (4-1, 9-3) trailed by one point late. But Pinkerton stole the ball and scored with less than 20 seconds left.
Rochester (3-2, 9-3) came down the other end and had a shot to take the lead back, but was errant on a shot. Huddleston snared the rebound and was fouled with 6.1 seconds to go.
Huddleston buried both free throws to put the Scotties up 71-68. The Rams attempted a long 3-pointer at the horn that was off the mark and Union survived.
"We knew it would be a grinder," Union coach Mark Stanley said. "Rochester came out hard and played strong early. We weathered the storm and stayed close.
"I thought it was a great team effort. We hung in and played tough. We had our opportunities and took advantage of them."
Tre Charles led four Scotties in double figures with 15 points. Huddleston was next with 14 markers and Constantin Padure provided 13. Nate Meeks added 11.
Charles handed out eight assists, while Padure and Evan Pinkerton pulled down seven boards apiece.
Caleb Collins cashed in 29 points to lead Rochester.
