A late rally wasn't enough for the Lady Wildcats in a 53-47 loss to the Lady Raiders in the fifth annual Larricia’s “See Them Rise” Showcase at the Covelli Centre in Youngstown, which was played Saturday.

South Range (15-2) led 29-22 at the half and stretched it to 43-28 after three periods. Shenango (9-7) outscored the Lady Raiders in the fourth quarter, 19-10, to narrow the gap.

"We got off to a decent start. But they just kept us at bay for the most part," Lady Wildcats coach Jason Rankin said. "We got as close as four but we just couldn't get over the hump. I thought it was a good test for us."

Angelina Sibeto supplied a team-best 18 points for the Lady Wildcats (9-7) and Samantha Seaburn chipped in with 12.

Morgan Czopur poured in a game-high 24 points for South Range.

Shenango returns to action at 7:30 p.m. Monday when it hosts Laurel in a WPIAL Section 1-AA matchup. The Lady

Wildcats can sew up a Class AA playoff berth with a win.

"We understand that (playoffs) and the kids are excited," Rankin said. "We want to clinch a spot to get in.

"We don't want to be in a position where it gets tighter as the week goes on. We have our work cut out for us."
