Wilmington girls hang on for win over Sharon

The Wilmington High girls basketball team survived Monday night.
Sharon missed a pair of foul shots with two-tenths of a second left, preserving the Lady Greyhounds' 36-34 vDistrict 10, Region 2-AA road win.
"It was a battle all night long," Wilmington coach Matt Fabian said. "Any time you can go on the road and win a region game it's big."
Wilmington (3-3 region, 5-11) could have put the game away earlier, but it missed the front end of three one-and-ones in the last two minutes and nursing a six-point lead.
Tamia Hopson went to the line for two shots with the score 36-34 and two-tenths of a tick left. She missed the first freebie and was forced to intentionally miss the second shot. The second attempt was a long rebound and the clock expired.
Lauren Frederick paced Wilmington with 12 points.
Hopson recorded a game-best 18 markers for the Lady Tigers.
