Union falls to Summit Academy
Union (70) Vs. Summit Academy (81)
Jan 06, 2016
A slow start was enough to doom the Union High boys basketball team Wednesday night.

The Scotties were held to just nine points in the opening quarter of an 81-70 non-section loss to visiting Summit Academy.

Union (5-7) did fight back, scoring 32 points in the second quarter and bringing its first-quarter deficit 12 points down to just one at the halftime break.

Garrison Bell scored 25 of his season-high 32 points in the first half to bring the Scotties within striking distance of the Knights. Bell and Devin Wilson shared the team-high mark with seven rebounds.

"He's high-energy and plays the same way all the time," Union coach Mark Stanley said of Bell. "He gives that same effort every night, it doesn't matter what the score is. He played well and he brought us back in the second quarter and we'll continue and ride him as far as we can. He's our go-to guy."
