The Panthers raced to a 23-8 lead after one quarter and cruised to a 76-41 Section 1-A home win over the Scotties.
"Sewickley shot it very well," Union coach Mark Stanley said. "They shot it better than us. They rebounded it better than us. It was just an old-fashioned butt kicking; they played hard."
Tre’von Charles collected a team-high 16 points for the Scotties (3-2, 5-6). Garrison Bell pulled down a team-high six rebounds to go with his six markers.
Chris Groetsch garnered a game-high 20 points for Sewickley Academy (4-0, 10-1).
Union doesn't have long to dwell on the loss, the second in a row for the team. The Scotties host Summit Academy on Wednesday.
"It's a quick turnaround for us," Stanley said. "We just have to play harder. Sometimes what we lack in skill we have to make up for by playing harder.
