The Wolverines flirted with an upset in their Section 2-AAA homecourt meeting with the unbeaten Tigers, but just fell short, 53-48.

Ellwood City (1-1, 4-3) led 21-20 at the half, but Beaver Falls (3-0, 6-0) took the lead for good in the third quarter with a 17-7 advantage.

Rick Roth led the Wolverines with 12 points and Nick Ioanilli added 10. Bryce Strati paced the Tigers with 23 points.
