The Lady 'Canes fell behind early and weren't able to pull off the comeback against Central Valley in the 47-37 Section 2-AAA loss.

New Castle (1-2, 1-5) trailed 11-4 after one quarter and 21-14 at the half.

"We went back and forth in the second half, we would make a run and then they made a run," first-year coach Maria Joseph said. "Had a couple more shots fallen for us, it would have been a different game.

"I don't think the score shows how hard we worked," she added. "I was pleased with the effort tonight."

Jaidyn Eggleston led New Castle with 11 points and Kayla Harvey added nine markers.

Central Valley (2-1, 4-1) had three players in twin figures, led by Krista Sudar with 11 tallies.
