Lady Lancers dig deep against Rochester
Neshannock (47) Vs. Rochester (25)
Dec 14, 2015
The Lady Lancers dug in defensively to claim a 47-25 nonsection road win over the Lady Rams.
The teams battled to a 10-all deadlock through one quarter. But Neshannock grabbed control by outscoring the hosts 15-3 in the second period.
"We did play well defensively," Lady Lancers coach Luann Grybowski said. "It's tough to play down there; we played well enough to win and hit shots when we had to.
"Defensively, we've been doing a good job all year. The kids are getting it. We're playing pretty sound defensively. That's good to see from a young team."
Stephanie Paras provided a game-high 11 points for Neshannock and Carmie Matarazzo added 10. Matarazzo also snared seven rebounds.
Ally Zarilla notched nine points for the winners and Regan Moorhouse followed with eight markers and six steals. Bella Burrelli contributed five points to go with her seven boards and four steals.
"The balance is good to see," Grybowski said. "Ideally you like to see three players in double figures and we almost had three.
"Of our top seven, any of them are capable of getting to double figures. It was really balanced and that's what you need."
