Feb 10, 2015
The Lady Greyhounds rallied for a District 10, Region 2-AA road win over the Lady Trojans.
Wilmington (3-8, 7-14) trailed 18-16 at the half and Greenville (4-7, 7-14) scored the first five points of the second half to go up 23-16.
But the Lady Greyhounds went on a 13-0 run to regroup and claim the win.
“This was a great win,” Wilmington coach Matt Fabian said. “We went up seven in the fourth quarter and we were able to hold on to the lead.
“It was nice to hold on to the lead and close out the win.”
The Lady Greyhounds outscored the Lady Trojans 13-4 in the final frame.
“We played a great defense in the fourth quarter,” Fabian said. “We played a 1-2-2 full-court zone that caused a lot of problems. Then we dropped back to a 2-3 zone and kept everything in front of us.”
Hannah Drake and Ally Hahn contributed 11 points each for Wilmington. Hahn pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds.
Lauren Frederick followed with nine markers.
“I thought Frederick played a big role in the win,” Fabian said.
