The Wildcats remained in contention for a playoff berth with a 65-55 Section 1-AA home win over the Knights.
Shenango (5-7, 11-8) came in needing to win its last three league games and Riverside (7-5, 10-9) to lose each of its final three. The Panthers lost to Lincoln Park, 80-60, last night.
The Wildcats will meet Riverside at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday on the Panthers’ home floor.
“This keeps our playoff hopes alive,” Shenango coach Bob McQuiston said. “That will be a big game down there.
‘We still have to get some help. We have to take care of business on our end though. It’s going to be tough down there. I’m sure they’ll be ready to go. We have to go down there and play with a lot of passion and emotion.”
The Wildcats opened up a 36-28 halftime lead and pushed it to 55-39 after three quarters.
“I thought we shot the ball pretty well,” McQuiston said. “We got some stops down the stretch; I’m happy to get the win.”
Ryan Smith supplied a team-high 22 points for Shenango and James Micco was next with 12. Matt Benson tossed in 11.
Shakir Hunley posted a game-best 27 points for Summit Academy (2-10, 3-15)
