Wilmington boys win
Wilmington (65) Vs. Mercer (44)
Jan 23, 2015
Wilmington had its three leaders step up in a District 10, Region 2AA matchup against visiting Mercer.

Spencer DeMedal led all scorers with 22 points, adding 10 assists and seven rebounds to his total.

Marc Peoples tallied 14 points and five blocks, while Travis Brumbaugh totaled 13 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

“We played well together,” Wilmington coach Mike Jeckavitch said. “Coming off of a good win against Sharpsville, maybe we’re finally finding our niche. Hopefully those three guys, they’re our catalysts and these younger guys are following their footsteps.”

A switch in defensive scheme helped the Greyhounds (3-4, 5-11) hold Mercer to just six fourth-quarter points.

“We were up eight going into the fourth quarter, we didn’t play well man-to-man and we switched to the zone,” Jeckavitch said. “We forced some bad shots and it came down to my three captains taking over.”
