Neshannock (71) Vs. Wilmington (51)
Jan 19, 2015
Madison McHale and Hannah Drake went toe-to-toe, but visiting Neshannock was able to take the nonsection victory over Wilmington.
Drake scored a game-high 28 points, while McHale paced the Lady Lancers with 26.
“Drake had a great game for them,” Neshannock coach Luann Grybowski said. “In the first half she attacked the rim. In the second half she hit 3s.”
McHale added five rebounds, three assists and three steals to her total.
“McHale is the real deal,” Wilmington coach Matt Fabian said. “She’s going to play Division II basketball for a reason. She’s very quick.”
Erin Warvell added 16 points, five rebounds and five steals, while Tayler Grybowski tallied 15 points, all from 3-pointers, with five rebounds and three steals for the Lady Lancers (12-1).
Neshannock led 20-10 after one quarter and took a 44-28 lead into the half.
“I thought we played much better than we have in the last three games,” Luann Grybowski said. “We moved the ball well, but I don’t like giving up 51 points in a game.”
Wilmington (5-10) tried to make a comeback but, even with a much better performance than in its 41-26 loss to Greenville on Thursday, wasn’t able to manufacture any momentum.
“It was night and day from our game against Greenville,” Fabian said. “We made some shots, but Neshannock was on fire. We could never get it to single digits in the second half, Neshannock is a very good team.”
