The Spartans turned up the heat on Union in the Union Booster Tournament to take the championship win.
An 18-6 first quarter was fueled by pressure defense, which led to easy transition baskets for Laurel (6-3).
Jacob Wilson led all scorers with 20 points, while Scott Siddall added 11 and Mason Mraz totaled 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Union (5-5) had trouble finding a go-to scorer, as Anthony Rush led the Scotties with 10 points.
Wilson was named tournament MVP, while Siddall represented the Spartans on the all-tournament team. Rush and Cornell Charles were also named to the team.
