Wilmington girls fall
West Middlesex (47) Vs. Wilmington (35)
Dec 19, 2014
The Lady Greyhounds couldn’t overcome foul trouble in their District 10, Region 2-AA loss to visiting West Middlesex.
Wilmington (0-1, 2-4) committed 24 fouls to the Lady Big Reds’ 10. Despite the differential, the Lady ’Hounds only trailed by five points heading into the final quarter.
West Middlesex (1-0, 5-1) was able to make key buckets and hit its free throws to put the game out of reach.
“The fourth quarter, they were eight of nine (from the floor),” Wilmington coach Matt Fabian said. “They hit three twos and a three. They hit some big shots in the fourth to put it out of reach and we had to start fouling.”
The Lady Big Reds connected on 19 of the 29 free throw attempts throughout the game, compared to Wilmington’s 9-14 showing.
Wilmington was also without starter Lexi Brumbaugh, who suffered a head injury in a 42-41 win over Rocky Grove. Fabian says that she will miss tomorrow’s game against Shenango, but is hoping she will be available on Tuesday for the Lady ’Hounds’ meeting against Reynolds.
