Shenango (55) Vs. Freedom (36)
Dec 19, 2014
A 16-5 first quarter helped propel the Lady Wildcats to a nonsection victory over host Freedom.
“We got off to a good start, we moved the ball well,” Shenango coach Brian Turk said. “We were a little sloppy in the final quarter, we definitely need to clean that up come league play.”
Samantha Seaburn led the way for Shenango (4-1) with 23 points and seven rebounds, while Carolyn Peterson added 12 points and seven rebounds.
Jacqui Baker scored eight points and grabbed 12 boards.
The Lady Wildcats didn’t allow Freedom (2-4) to score in double digits until the fourth quarter, when it posted 13 points.
“We were working on some things tonight and the girls responded well early,” Turk said. “We went with the flow of the game the last period and got sloppy. Hopefully by Saturday, we’ll clean that up against Wilmington and be ready for Laurel and league play.”
