The Spartans fell to Our Lady of Sacred Heart in Moon Township, despite an impressive shooting performance from Noah Wertz.

Wertz connected on five 3-pointers and tallied a game-high 19 points for Laurel (1-2) and Tucker Skerbetz hit two 3-pointers of his own.

“It was nice, we went on a run in the second quarter,” Laurel coach Ken Locke said. “They hit five in a row so that got us back in the game. Unfortunately we weren’t able to win.”

The Chargers’ Hunter Szilaga countered with 18 points.

Laurel only trailed by one point heading into the final quarter, but the Chargers pounced in the final eight minutes for a 22-9 advantage.

“They just kept the tempo the way they wanted to,” Locke said.
