Wilmington boys fall hard
Farrell (79) Vs. Wilmington (32)
Dec 10, 2014
The visiting Greyhounds were overwhelmed from the start in their season-opening game against Farrell.

The Steelers jumped out to a 21-8 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, scoring 20 points in the second quarter, 20 in the third and 18 in the fourth.

“We had small goals coming into the game,” Wilmington coach Mike Jeckavitch said. “We compete well in the first half, and they kind of wore us down with their speed and rebounding. I told them to put this one behind us and focus on Mercer. We’ll take the good and bad with this game and get ready for the next one.”

Travis Brumbaugh led Wilmington with 11 points, while Jacob Harvey posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

“He’s a new kid from Neshannock this year,” Jeckavitch said of Harvey. “ I thought he gave 100 percent effort every single second. It’s nice to see from a new kid in a new system.”
