Ellwood girls top Union
Ellwood City (55) Vs. Union (20)
Dec 09, 2014
The Lady Wolverines built a 34-5 halftime bulge and cruised to a nonsection road win over the Lady Scots.
“We got off to a slow start again. We just can’t get going,” second-year Union coach Larry Ondako said.
Tyanna Harris paced the Lady Scots (0-3) with nine points and Skylar Thompson tallied seven.
Karington Ketterer collected 11 markers for Ellwood City Lincoln (2-1). Bailey McKinney and Jocelyn Guy garnered 10 tallies apiece.
“Even though we got another win, I'm not 100 percent satisfied with our performance (last night),” Lady Wolverines coach Jolene Servick said. “We missed many easy, open shots and were forced into turning the ball over 21 times.
“In our tough section, it will be difficult to come out with a win with that many turnovers and missed opportunities. We did force them into 31 turnovers but we still need to work on scoring off of their mistakes. I think we are gaining confidence and starting to come together.”
Katelyn Wardman snared a game-high seven rebounds for Ellwood City, while McKinney and Ketterer added six each. Ketterer also contributed six steals.
